While the number of Commercial Aviation Accidents continues to decline… the Accident Rate for General Aviation is significantly higher
America's Commercial Airspace shows improvement
In March, 2007, the National Transportation Safety Board reported that civil aviation safety continued to show improvement in 2006. During that year there were 31 accidents involving U.S. air carriers, resulting in 50 fatalities.
But that’s not true for General Aviation…
The accident rate was significantly higher for General Aviation, which experienced 1,515 accidents in 2006…with 303 crashes that resulted in 698 fatalities.
